The World Series of Poker’s, The Colossus, is getting ready to begin Day 2, with the action getting started at 5pm at the Rio in Las Vegas. The No Limit Hold’em Tournament had a buy-in of $565 and offered up $5 million in guaranteed prize money. After two days and four starting flights, the remaining players are ready to hit the tables to see just who will emerge the victor.

In each starting flight, around 5,000 to 6,000 players were at the poker tables, which means as many as 20,000 to 24,000 players in attendance. The event has already broken the record for most players participating in a live event, but by massive proportions. After the final starting flight yesterday, it seems as though Ardit Kurshumi is the chip leader with 169,100 with Yuliyan Kolev not far behind with 159,000 in chips.

Notable players still in the mix include Vanessa Rousso, Greg Raymer, David ‘Doc’Sands and Michael Wang. Top pros who were eliminated in the first round of game play include Scotty Nguyen, Vanessa Selbst, Jamie Gold and Mike Matusow.

The officials of the event are still processing the entries and the results of the flights, so the total number of players participating as well as the number of players advancing into Day 2 have yet to be released by the WSOP. Total prize money available has also yet to be announced.
